Knoco in Brazil is headed by Fabio Batista, Brazilian citizen and resident in Brasília since 1977, and KM Manager at Summit Quality Systems Consultores Associados, a consultancy specialized in knowledge management, strategic planning and quality management. Fabio is also a Portuguese citizen and has been working as researcher, academic, practioner and consultant in the field of KM for many years. He worked for 15 years as senior researcher and manager in the field of KM at the Instituto de Pesquisa Economica Aplicada - Ipea, a federal government think tank in Brazil (2002-2017).
Fabio holds a Ph.D. degree in the field of Information Science from the University of Brasilia, a Master degree in History from the University of Brasilia, a Master degree in International Relations by the School of Advanced International Studies/Johns Hopkins University (Washington, DC). He is a Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM) by the KM Institute (Washington, DC).
Fabio is Professor at Knowledge Management and Information Technology Master´s Programe of the Catholic University (Brasilia, Brazil). He is also Professor in the field of knowledge management at Escola Nacional de Administração Pública - Enap (Brasilia, Brazil). Fabio was postdoctoral fellow at Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis, SC, Brazil from 2011 - 2012. He was a Visiting Professor in the area of KM at Universid de Santiago de Chile, Chile (2016) and at the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2017) and a Visiting Scholar at University of Venice Ca´ Foscari, Italy (2016) where he conducted a research about KM and innovation in large companies.
Fábio has provided consultancy services in the field of knowledge managemnt for many public sector organizations in Brazil since 2012 when he published a book intitled "KM Framework for Brazilian Public Administration: How to implement KM to produce results to benefit citizens". In 2016, he was the editor of the book "International experiences of knowledge management implementation in the public sector". One of the organizations where Fabio provided consultancy services in KM implementation, the Brazilian National Aviation Agency - ANAC, was the winner of the 2nd Knowledge Management and Intellectual Capital Excellence Awards 2016.
